The second annual “Garden in the Park will be held Sat., March 10, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Opelika’s Municipal Park.
Keep Opelika Beautiful is a non-profit, volunteer driven environmental organization whose goal is to change Opelika’s physical environment through their actions.
“They work to educate the community on the importance of a clean and beautiful environment, said Barbra Kent, Special Activities Coordinator for Opelika Parks and Recreation.
The only fundraiser for Keep Opelika Beautiful, Garden in the Park promotes awareness of our environment through the selling of products derived from the environment, such as the art form of hand-thrown pottery.
The Armory Arts Center members and Gail Carroll of Lanett will be making return visits this year as vendors with their beautiful pottery. Opelika’s neighbor “Out in the Garden in Auburn will return with all kinds of garden ware, hanging baskets, and topiaries.
Other art forms showcased at the event will be: paintings, candles, baskets, jewelry and more. There will be special guests signing autographs, plus entertainment on the stage including Miss. Auburn Opelika. And last, but not least, there will be great food from a variety of vendors. It will be a day of fun and activity for the whole family.
Proceeds from the event will go to restoring Keep Opelika Beautiful’s Little Red Caboose, located at Opelika’s Historic Depot.
