Auburn Students Volunteer with Project Uplift
Binky has two extra siblings. Auburn seniors Kacy Eoff and Katherine Archer spend their Tuesday afternoons fulfilling their role as Binky’s “big sisters.
Project Uplift matches volunteers with area children to serve as big brothers and big sisters. Currently, over 800 Lee County children are involved in the organization, according to their website.
Hundreds of Auburn students participate in Project Uplift. The idea is to build an ongoing friendship with the children. Eoff and Archer have invested nearly two years with Binky. Each week, they go to his house or the Boys and Girls Club to pick him up.
“Binky loved the fire station, said Eoff. “It was like Christmas morning for him. He got a tour and met the firefighters. He still talks about the hat they gave him.
While the philanthropic organization is designed to help the children, the volunteers receive much from it, too.
“He has so much fun, but Kacy and I do, too, said Archer. “It’s such a blessing to spend that time with Binky.
