Student Shares Experiences of Study Abroad Program in Spain

Every summer Auburn students have the opportunity to take part in a number of study abroad programs. One program takes students to Salamanca, Spain to study Spanish. Sarah Broussard, a graduate student at Auburn getting her master’s degree in Spanish, went to Salamanca with the Spanish department this past summer.

In this program, about 100 students go to Salamanca to live for one month during the summer. During their stay, students live in a dorm and take about six hours of Spanish class each day. They have weekends off to travel wherever they want to visit.

Auburn students live in what resembles a small college town during their stay in Salamanca. Most people that live in this area are also young Spanish students. “My favorite part of the trip was being able to sit in the plaza, drink wine and observe the locals and their culture, said Sarah.
