Auburn Celebrities “Caught Reading”

For the second year in a row Alabama Center for the Book produced more than 45,000 posters of nine Alabama celebrities who have been “caught reading.” These posters will be distributed to schools, books stores, literacy centers, and libraries throughout the state.

This year Auburn University’s mascot as well as Auburn alumnus Taylor Hicks will be featured on the posters. Other Alabamians “caught reading”include First Lady Patsy Riley, Atlanta Braves pitcher Tim Hudson, and Big Al, the mascot for the University of Alabama.

The Alabama Center for the Book is located here in the Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts and Humanities in the College of Liberal Arts and the staff are employed by Auburn University. The Alabama Center for the Book encourages literacy in every possible way. It sponsors public programming, the Alabama Book Festival, and the statewide River of Words and Letters about Literature contests. The center also highlights Alabama literary culture and heritage.

Would love to have a set of posters for my community library. This is an excellent idea to get children interested in reading and at the same time, help the University.
