Libby McCrary, a senior majoring in communications, is the SGA director of elections. This position sounds fairly straight forward, but the duties associated with it play a major part of Auburn’s student population. Not many students know much about the elections process on Auburn’s campus, much less the work that goes into organizing the events.

There are two separate divisions of elections, the director and assistant directors and the elections board. Libby is the director and is in charge of a team of assistants as well. This division of elections helps to organize the campaigns of each candidate. Libby approves all campaign materials for each candidate, including the colors, gimmicks, and slogans. The elections team also ensures that each candidate follows a code of ethics instituted by the student government association. If any candidate breaks a code, they are brought to the elections board, where they will have a hearing to determine punishment for the violation.

The elections team handles all campaigns, including those for each SGA position, Miss Auburn, and Miss Homecoming. Libby says that they are currently focusing on Miss Homecoming campaigns, but that Miss Auburn is right about the corner as well.
