Halloween Spirit

etting into the Halloween spirit won’t be hard this year for Auburn students, faculty and residents thanks to The Auburn University chapter of American Institute for Architecture
Students. This organization will sponsor its 19th annual College of Architecture, Design
and Construction Pumpkin Carve Friday October 26th in the Dudley Courtyard.
Over 400 pumpkins will be judged on creativity, appearance and craftsmanship. The American Institute of Architecture Students is encouraging all students to participate in the carving. AIAS is also featured in the October issue of Southern Living magazine.
There will be a wide range of pumpkin designs that will showcase many popular themes. The degree of effort will also vary from first time carvers to skilled experts. The Pumpkin Carve is expected to have an even larger turn out than last year. The judges include numerous university, civic and business leaders from the
Auburn-Opelika area.
The public is invited to the watch the Pumpkin Carve and the attendees will be able to watch the carvers create their scary masterpieces. All of the pumpkins will be on display from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A live video stream of all the day’s activities will be available at www.cadc.auburn.edu/pumpkincarve/ for those who won’t be able to make the event.
The judging will start at 6:30 pm and the award ceremony will follow at 7:00 p.m. Pumpkins will be available for viewing until 8 p.m.
Other events will also take place at he Pumpkin Carve including a children’s costume contest, face painting and pictures with Aubie. Hot dogs, burgers, chili and drinks will also be on sale throughout the day. Uncared pumpkins will also be available for purchase for $4.
When the pumpkin carving is over the party has only just begun. All of the carved pumpkins will be lit and glowing with Halloween spirit in the Dudley Courtyard. The Dudley Courtyard is located between Dudley Hall and Dudley Commons, which is adjacent to Graves Amphitheatre.
