Pumpkin Carving on The Plains
W ith Halloween only five days away, it is time to get ready for ghosts, goblins and monsters. Come down to the Dudley Courtyard to get in the Halloween spirit with pumpkin carving, tasty treats, face painting and more. The Pumpkin Carve is October 26 from 9 am to 5 pm.
The Auburn University’s chapter of the American Institute of Architecture Students is sponsoring the 19th annual Pumpkin Carve.
Student from the the College of Architecture, Construction and Design will be carving more than 400 pumpkins today. Everyone is invited to attend and carve a pumpkin.
Uncarved pumpkins will be available to purchase on-site for $4 and carved pumpkins for $5.
The festivities will begin at 9 am with the sale of t-shirts and pumpkins.
At noon hot dogs, hamburgers, chili and drinks will be on sale. Also at noon the student costume contest will begin.
The pumpkin carve contest ends at 5pm and the pumpkins will be illuminated.
At 6 pm the Kid Zone activities will start. With face painting, a children’s costume contest, bobbing for apples, cookie decorating contest and a bean bag toss. Aubie will also be at the event posing for pictures and judging the children’s costume contest.
At 6:30 pm judging and the announcement of the winner will start. The pumpkins are judged on appearance, imagination and craftsmanship. The pumpkins will be available for viewing until 8 pm.
All proceeds from today’s event will be donated to the Auburn University chapter of the American Institute of Architecture Students.
