Ag Fall Roundup

On most fall Saturday afternoons in Auburn, tailgates can be seen for miles, and Ag Heritage Park will be the scene of a super-sized tailgate party on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 9 a.m. to noon. The College of Agriculture and the Auburn University Agricultural Alumni Association will host the 28th annual Taste of Alabama Agriculture and Fall Ag Roundup. The public is invited to attend the tailgate, which each year draw more than 1,500 tailgaters who come to enjoy the food, fellowship and fun. Admission is $5 and free for active Ag Alumni Association members and for children 6 and under.

The park is located on Samford Avenue near the intersection of Samford and South Donahue Drive. Gates to the homecoming tailgating tradition will open at 9 a.m. onto a bountiful array of foods that spotlight both traditional and exotic food items that are either grown or processed in Alabama. Attendees can sample a wide range of delicious foods, such as sweet potato fries, collard greens, grilled burgers, roast lamb and a new-to-the-United States gourmet Italian pork dish known as porchetta.

Food will not be the only attraction at the Taste and Roundup either. The event also will feature live entertainment, exhibits from academic departments and student organizations, children’s activities and a live and silent auction that will give Roundup tailgaters the chance to bid on such prizes as vacations, hunting and fishing trips, toys and much more. All auction proceeds go to the Ag Alumni Association Fall Roundup Scholarship Fund.

The Ag Roundup will then wind down around noon. Ag Heritage Park is just two blocks from Jordan-Hare Stadium, giving tailgaters ample time to be in the stands for the kickoff of the Auburn tigers homecoming game against Tennessee Tech University.

Ag Heritage Park is located on Samford Avenue, across from the AU Athletic Complex. For more information on the Taste of Alabama and Ag Roundup, contact Elaine Rollo at 844-3204.
