Practical Experience is Priceless

Christina Sarmir is a senior at Auburn University majoring in early education. Along with her classes this semester, Sarmir is also gaining practical experience. Sarmir goes to a local elementary school three times a week to do activities with the students.

She reads to the children, helps them with various projects and also does hands-on activities. She says everything they do needs to be “investigative”. The point of the activities she leads is to let children discover the answers and solutions for themselves.

Sarmir loves to work with children and says the best part is seeing how excited they become once they have discovered a solution. She knows that this experience is a great tool for her future career as a teacher. Classes are very important, but nothing can beat practical experience.
