Putting Safety First at Auburn

ith all the recent issues regarding campus crises Auburn University has taken action to inform its students if any emergency should occur. A new emergency communications system Known as AU ALERT has been implemented. AU ALERT is a personalized voice and text messaging system that will provide critical information. All Students, faculty and all staff members can sign up for this system.
People who have registered will be provided information and instructions through cell phones, home phones, e-mail or other text-receiving devices in any major event that could possibly affect the community. Everyone who has an Auburn University e-mail address will receive emergency alerts to their campus e-mail address.
In order to also receive text and voice message alerts, members of the campus community will be asked to provide phone contact information. All of the Auburn University community is urged to sign up for AU ALERT. Participation in the text and voice messaging notification is optional. These emergency notifications can be activated to any phone by logging on to www.auburn.edu/aualert.
To log in to AU ALERT students and faculty need to use: auburn\username and your AU password. Once you have signed up for AU ALERT you will be eligible for notifications after 24 hours.
  In a major emergency affecting the university community, people who have registered will be provided information and instructions through cell phones, home phones, e-mail or other text-receiving devices. This system will only be utilized in serious emergency situations. Officials will be able to schedule, send and track personalized voice messages. Up to four numbers and two e-mail addresses can be registered per person. All information given to the system is confidential. Participants will only be contacted through the system in the event of an emergency.
Now no matter where you are people registered in the system will know what’s going on in Auburn. Communication is considered to be an extremely important factor regarding the security of all Auburn students and staff. The University realized that quick and efficient communication is key to keeping Auburn’s campus as safe as possible.
