What’s Your Plan?
Auburn Sustainability Action Program (ASAP) wants to take your picture today on the concourse for their “What’s Your Plan?” campaign. The campaign is part of a national New Voters Project organized by student Public Interest Research Groups (PIRG).
Brittany Branyon, co-chair of ASAP, held the first day of photo shoots yesterday. The organization will also be out there today looking for more students interested in becoming involved in the campaign. Students will be posing for a photo with a “What’s Your Plan?” sign. The photos will be sent to presidential candidates and state representatives to urge them to address issues like global warming.
The goal of the national campaign is to spread awareness of the certain issues put forth by the New Voters Project. The Project wants the presidential candidates to outline their plans for global warming, college affordability, health care and financial security.
The New Voters Project is a nonpartisan effort to get young people to vote and show politicians that young people are influential constituents.
Another ASAP effort is the weekly Fact Friday. Volunteers distribute flyers about upcoming events, movies, and campaigns relating to environmental awareness issues. The organization also has other information such as ways to reduce waste and recycling at home. Look for them on the concourse every week.
To volunteer your time for Fact Friday, please e-mail Melissa Tran at tranmel@auburn.edu.
