Auburn Student Competes in Marathon

uburn student Jessica McDonald competed in the 5th Annual Mercedes-Benz Race this weekend. Participants have the option of running in a 5K relay, a half marathon (13.1 miles) or a full marathon (26.2 miles). Jessica decided to run the half marathon because this is the first time she has ever competed in a race, but she is training to run a full marathon for the Nashville Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon later this year.

 

The race began at exactly 7:03 a.m. on Sunday, February 10, 2008. It took place in downtown Birmingham, and the runners started and finished at the Boutwell Auditorium. There were 3500 participants, and Jessica finished in the top 500. Below is a video of Jessica telling us about her experience.
