A Day in the Life of an Intern

E

very public relations student that goes to Auburn must complete an internship in order to graduate. It is a way to get the students motivated and to decide if what they did in their internship is what they want to do after they graduate from Auburn.

Some students decide to do their internship when they do not have to take classes and can travel to another city, state or country. Some students, however, stay on the plains and combine taking classes with their internship.

Ashley Brown, a senior in public relations is doing just that. Brown, while completing her last semester in Auburn is interning at the Auburn Alumni Center being a print production management intern. In the video, Brown expresses more of her responsibilities and more into her duties as an intern for the Alumni Center.

It is a wonderful opportunity to intern for a company to learn lessons that you can only learn in the public relations world. The lessons you learn in the internship reinforce what students learned in their public relations classes. Students also have the opportunity to make more connections with people they thought they wouldn’t, but they do and they learn what their strong aspects are while at the internship.

Making sure public relations students complete an internship before they graduate is another way that Auburn is ahead of other universities. Companies look for employees with some experience and Auburn gives that to its public relations students, which will have the students thanking Auburn in the end.
