Sigma Pi Hosts Founder’s Day
Sigma Pi fraternity, founded at Auburn University in 1926, hosted its annual Founder’s Day this past weekend. Founder’s Day was organized by alumni director, Jason Musselman, and assistant alumni director, Chase Gantt. According to Musselman and Gantt, the turnout this year of approximately 40 alumni exceeded their expectations and proved to be a successful Founder’s Day.
Founder’s Day festivities begin on Friday night with “Casino Night” when fraternity members and alumni can “gamble” to help raise money for the fraternity and its philanthropies. On Saturday, the fraternity hosts an alumni golf tournament followed by a dinner at the fraternity house. Sigma Pi always secures a guest speaker for the dinner Saturday night and this year it was John Mengelt, a former Auburn University basketball player who also played professionally in the 70s to early 80s.
Founder’s Day was created as a way to establish and maintain positive relations between current fraternity members and alumni. Musselman has been alumni director for the past three years and enjoys organizing Founder’s Day because it continues to improve each year and serves as the best way to bring together generations of brothers.
