KKG Annual Chili Cookoff Was a Great Success
Kappa Kappa Gamma held their annual Chili Cookoff philanthropy event this past Saturday at the Ag Heritage Park Red Barn. Each year, teams enter their chili in hopes of being named winner and to raise money for a good cause. KKG’s philanthropy is Reading Is Fundamental, a non-profit literacy organization that provides books to underprivileged children and schools.
Kasey Gardner, KKG’s philanthropy chair, talks about the event’s success and her work for the philanthropy in this video. In addition to organizing the Chili Cookoff, she also is in charge of taking Kappas to Moton Day Care each week to read to the kids there. She says it’s her favorite part about being philanthropy chair.
The Chili Cookoff was a great success, with 23 teams entering and over 400 people attending. They also raised over $3,500 to go to Reading Is Fundamental. This was KKG’s most successful cookoff to date and hopefully the success will continue in the years to come.
