Singing and Dancing with the AU Singers

This highly select singing and dancing group is open to all Auburn students by audition. Auditions are held in May for current students, and during Camp War Eagle for incoming freshmen.

The group travels all over the southeast to perform for various groups, whether it be at schools, civic organizations, exhibitions or nursing homes. However, the AU Singers are known for its performances on campus.

The AU Singers will host its Spring 2008 show on April 26, 27 and 29. There will be 5 total shows over the three day period, a first for the group. Tickets are $10 a piece.

The performance will include solos, many modern hits, ballads and a fun medley.

Through Subway, Bus and Train

Auburn University Students returned on Tuesday afternoon from the Power Shift conference held at the University of Maryland in College Park, Md. The 19 students met with representatives of Alabama’s Congress members in Washington D.C. to discuss initiatives for the state’s environmental and energy policies.

The students were sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts, Dean of Students and Natural Resources Management and Development Institute. They left on a chartered bus to Atlanta at 5 p.m. November 2 and arrived on an Amtrak train the following morning at 10:30 a.m. in Washington D.C.

Sculpture Exhibition

The Auburn University Department of Art and the Opelika Arts Association present an exhibition of sculpture created by Auburn University art students.  The show, “Selections from the Auburn University Sculpture Program” is being held in the Opelika Arts Association Gallery at 1032 S. Railroad Ave. in Opelika.  The show exhibits diverse media and a wide range of styles.  (more…)

The Impact of an Assignment

Collecting quotes was very inspirational for me. I learned more about the text. I also received the ability to express my views on how different quotes made me feel. I enjoy the opportunity of being able to express my thoughts on situations within different works. I also didn’t realize how I really felt about a certain passage until I actually sat down and deeply thought about it.

I learned that my creativity is at its best when I have the ability to give my personal evaluation about a subject. I couldn’t believe the emotion I felt from my collected quotes. I also didn’t realize how much I could relate to certain authors. (more…)

Invision Your PR Career

It is every public relations major’s dream job. One day public relations students will be clamoring for a position that many think is brimming with big money, high profile clients and a jet-setting lifestyle. Being an event planner, however, is far from these glamorous expectations.

Julie K. Bunkley, 26, is the owner of Invision, an event consulting company in Auburn. She graduated from Auburn in December 2003 with a degree in PR. She will have internship opportunities for those PR majors wanting to specialize in event planning and consulting.

“I feel a little weird that there are so many people that, apparently, want what I have. They want my job,� said Bunkley.
