Auburn University Nursing School Student Speaks Out

Ever wonder what it would be like to be an Auburn University Nursing School student? Whether you are interested in becoming a nurse or just curious about what is required of these individuals, you will develop a new found respect for these students.

Caleb Cooper is finishing up his first year as an Auburn University Nursing School student. He speaks about the difficult tests, long hours and satisfaction that has come from his hard work.

Looking to Get Involved? Try UPC

Michelle Murphy, Auburn University’s UPC advisor, took some time to talk about what is going on in UPC. Currently, UPC is looking for members of the council as well as committee members.

For those of you who are not familiar with the Auburn University Program Council, this organization does it all! UPC organizes events ranging from movies to major concerts to workshops, lectures and comedians! And what makes UPC so unique is that it is completely planned and produced by Auburn students for Auburn Students.

Applications for council members will be due March 12. There will also be three interest meetings for those who would like to know more details. They will be held March 4 at 3:30 and March 5 at 4:00 and 7:00.

The Real World… and I Am Not Talking MTV

elly Mcdevitt shared her experience with me from her weekend in Atlanta, Georgia. Mcdevitt attended a Public Relations Conference titled “The Real World,� because the conference provides a taste of the real world!

This PR Collegiate Conference is a daylong event that brings together more than 200 college students from all over the Southeast and many other parts of the country. Seminars are held regarding professional development and interactive industry presentations. More than 200 Atlanta-based public relations professionals attend the event.
For Kelly, this was an excellent chance to meet top PR students and PR professionals for internships or entry-level positions.

Kelly is currently a senior majoring in Public Relations here at Auburn University.

Auburn University’s New SGA President Lauren Hayes

L

auren Hayes has recently been elected as Auburn University’s new Student Government Association President for 2008-2009.

Campaigning began Sunday, February 3 and lasted through Thursday, February 7. Several students ran for positions on the executive council for SGA as well as college officers and college senators.

Lauren has served on both the SGA Cabinet as the Director of High School Leadership Conference as well as the SGA Senate representing the College of Liberal Arts.

Lauren in majoring in Public Administration and German and is from Abbeville, Ala.

Auburn Athletes Prepare to Celebrate Student Athlete Day and National Athlete Day

Summer Ragsdale is the President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. She shared with me her past involvement with Student Athlete Day and the plans that are currently underway for this year’s celebration. This year, student athletes have teamed up with the community relations department of athletics. Together, they will recognize both Student Athlete Day and National Athlete Day with activities for Auburn athletes as well as elementary age children. Student Athlete Day will be held March 4, 2008.
