Those 2 pesky murders might dampen the week's festivities, and contributors might even question the VT leadership. The admin was most concerned about the fund-raiser and "damage control," not student or faculty safety. This explains the "failure of timely notification," followed by a flaccid e-mail of a "shooting on campus." While the students were not informed of an imminent danger, VT Pres. Steger promptly notified VA Gov. Kaine's office. Local public schools heard the news and were in "lockdown" long before the next victims were barricaded, with 30 murdered and 25 gunned down.
